thank you for this posting. as an experience developer for museums, it is often difficult to balance the creation of web 2.0 portals into the collection versus what is possible/what visitors actually want to know.

of particular interest is the comparison between consumption-centered and production-centered. i would add some other pairs (some of which go beyond the web): for adults v. for teens/tweens, presents facts v. presents ideas, one-way conversation v. two-way conversation.

cheers!

Robin

Interresting post! I have to start reading your blog! Any specially interresting old posts I should read? Have been contemplating on web 2.0 for a while now, there are good things happening, but I think it is somewhat a bouble too, there are too many new web 2.0 projects starting out and consumers like myself have great difficulty choosing witch services you actually need and should spend time on. I have been taking lots of pictures from ARS06 on kiasma, but I havne´t made it to web 2.0 yet(they are on flickr but not on a blog), I guess i´m stil a bit stuck on "produce for private use"-mode. The main reason beeing that I don´t have many only-online friends and I still don´t know if I it is worth to bulid a web 2.0 presence and gain a samll online audience, I think I will wait untill I have stuff I really want to communitacte.

Remeber me Ulla from Pixelache? Well see you at Aula 2006...

fantastic post. I've begun thinking about viewer generated imput as an artist/gallerys best friend and worst enemy once you get into the possiblity of the wrong information, or at least misinterpretation become they key information. The upside of course is that web 2.0 content provides objects with an alternative voice - a new social context that extends their relevance in new and exciting ways.

Thanks for the amendment, Tina.

One thing that we could also discuss is museums themselves linking with each other in new interesting ways. At least in Finland design museums are often competing with each other - instead of complementing each other.

ts
