Should a HobbySister find herself in Copenhagen, she might like to pay a visit to the Leatherhouse (Skindhuset) in the Leathermanstreet (Skindergade).
Skindhuset sells leather and all kinds of hobbycraft stuff that has to do with leather accessories. For example you can find a serious collection of buckles, clips and clasps of all sizes and for all purposes. Want to make a bag? A wallet? A belt? A jacket? A key purse? How about a leash? Bridles? A rivet outfit? This is your place.
The Leather house is run by Hans-Jörgen Amdrup. The business has been in the family since 1926. The dyed leather itself is not Danish; according to the shop assistant it comes from “somewhere Asia”. Amdrup just sells it – with a good margin.
As you step in, a dazing smell of leather greets you at the door. The shop is a bit boorish and the service is hostile, but if you don’t mind that you can find some nice things. I grubbed the waste scrap bin and found some patches for decorating my old t-shirt. The Skindhus website is good. It offers good pictures of sellable items as well as nice tips and ideas for hobbycrafting. The only problem is that you have to know Danish to read them.

Thank you the nice words!
